The Southern Edge Academy makes it possible for young student athletes to attend school and get world-class hockey training in one place. Our curriculum is designed to give our students everything they need to perform at their best, both in hockey and in the classroom. We utilize a sequence of on-ice, off-ice and computer based training along with insightful classroom sessions to put our student athletes in an optimal position to reach their athletic, academic, and personal goals. Our facilities are based inside the Germain Arena which is conveniently located off of I-75 and 10 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport. Germain Arena is home to the ECHL Florida Everblades, Jr. Everblades, Florida Everblades AAA, Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles, and Florida Everblades Figure Skating Club.

Training at the edge of your ability

According to USA Hockey, while skill development can occur during later years, the opportunity for positively affecting the long-term development of a player is never greater than in the 8-12 year old period. In fact, USA Hockey calls this age bracket the “Golden Age of Skill Development”.

Cutting Edge Academics

The Southern Edge Academy is equipped to help our students excel academically no matter which approved virtual school program they choose to pursue. Our cutting edge classroom facility is staffed by a first-rate group of teachers and monitors who supplement the efforts of the teaching staff at the virtual school which each student chooses to use.

Learn More About Our Academics

We moved to the area in July from Alaska. After meeting and talking with the staff at Southern Edge Academy we decided to enroll our son. Enrolling him has turned out to be one of the best things we could have done. The academic program has given our son more responsibility to not only make sure his school work is done but that he understands it and this has given him a sense of ownership of his academics. The hockey and athletic portion of SEA has him pushing his limits on and off the ice and it shows with his improvement in his physical fitness and his abilities on the ice.-Robert Thompson
